Our Future

This sanctuary started out ridiculously small. It was a way to help a few farm animals in need find a safe place to live. But there are so many in need! How does one say no when you can make a difference? Slowly, more room was made to accommodate more farm animals in need. It is still a small sanctuary, but it has gotten bigger. It requires more work, effort, and money to keep the animals fed, healthy, clean, housed, and happy.

Looking forward, there are many projects to start contemplating if we are to grow and help more animals in need..... large and small! Many will require a lot of support to accomplish. As we start looking into these future endeavors, those ideas will be posted here to give you an idea of the scope and scale of what is needed to best perform our mission of providing safe sanctuary to all those we can!

We need a tractor!

Average price range 25,000-30,000

As the sanctuary has grown, so has the amount of work that just cannot be handled manually! With the amount of rain and flooding these past couple of years especially, paddocks and run-ins have become a mucky mess that is impossible to muck out with normal shoveling. Soon we are going to have to investigate larger 3 string bales of hay that are much heavier and will require a machine to move them around. Large feeders need to be moved around to drier areas and rocks need to be cleared out of paddocks. There is just so much work around a farm sanctuary that requires machinery to help! I was not planning for it to grow so fast to the point where the work was so much more than a few farm animals required was necessary, but it has! I am happy to do it, always. But I need help.

Several machines have been considered. There are so many! Based on the needs and the type of work that needs to be done, the conclusion is that the most useful machine would be a mini loader backhoe, a smaller version perfect for farm chores like the one pictured here. This tractor would allow scraping up and scooping out the paddocks, digging, lifting, and moving around heavy things. It would make it possible to dig out the run-ins and animal areas a regular machine cannot fit into. It would save time, allowing for other projects around the farm to progress. It would be so helpful in so many ways!
